Kristian Kiehling hat am 17. November 2023 für seinen Kurzfilm DEZEMBER den 1. Platz des Local Heroes Wettbewerbs gewonnen. Der Wettberwerb fand im Rahmen des 39.Internationalen Kurzfilmfestivals Interfilm in Berlin statt und wurde mit einem Stipendium der Berliner Kameraverleihfirma ’25p‘ belohnt.
Kristian Kiehling’s shortfilm DECEMBER has won the 1st place at the ‚Local Heroes‘ competition of the 39th Interfilm International Short Film Festival in Berlin 2023. The award includes a scholarship the Berlin based Camera rental company ’25p‘.

Kristian Kiehling, geboren 1976, ist Absolvent der Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Mozarteum in Salzburg, Österreich, und hat als Schauspieler in mehr als 70 internationalen Film -, Theater – und Fernsehproduktionen mitgespielt. Er arbeitete unter anderem am Londoner Royal Court Theater, sowie mehrmals für die BBC.
2015 drehte er vor der Lybischen Küste und in acht Europäischen Ländern seinen ersten Dokumentarfilm CHRONICLE OF A SUMMER IN EUROPE (78min), der als Documentary Centerpiece in der Dokumentarfilmsektion des Lighthouse International Film festival LIFF 2016 in New Jersey, U.S.A. ausgezeichnet wurde. Er lernte sein Regiehandwerk unter anderem durch die Arbeit mit dem Dokumentarfilmer und Autor Robert Young Pelton (The World‘s Most Dangerous Places) und mit dem Fotojournalisten Jason Florio, mit denen er für Christopher Catrambone‘s NGO Migrant Offshore Aid Station MOAS mehrere Kurzfilme für deren Fundraising drehte. Zwischen 2016 und 2018 drehte er die Videoarbeiten Microcosm (25min), Sebastian (16 min) und A Wedding (24 min).
2018 Produzierte er für die DFFB Theresa Bergners Kurzfilm DER HOCHZEITSTAG (24 min) und drehte seine ersten zwei Werbefilme für einen Brandenburger Pferdewirtschaftshof.
2021 Drehte er mit DEZEMBER(10 min) , seinen ersten, fiktionalen Kurzfilm, der 2022 vom MDR angekauft wurde. Im Sommer 2022 drehte er mit ‚DIE WIESE‚ von Bjäschin (45 min) seinen ersten , mittellangen Film in Co – Produktion mit Simon Veroneg und Christian Riegel von Shoot ’ n ‘ Post, Berlin.
Derzeit Produziert er den Kurzfilm ‚LAST WEDNESDAY‚ (19 min.) von Ramin Parvin und ist in Vorbereitung seines nächsten Kurzfilms mit dem Arbeitstitel ‚DAS ROTE ZIMMER‚ und einen Dokumentarfilm mit dem Arbeitstitel ‚RECHTSFREIER RAUM‘.
Kristian Kiehling was born in 1976 and received his Masters Degree in Acting at the Mozarteum University, Austria. He has played in well over 70 Film -, Theatre – and television – productions. He worked at the Royal Court Theatre in London as well as for the BBC and numerous other German, English and international broadcasters and Film productions. In 2015 he made his directorial debut with the documentary film Chronicle Of A Summer In Europe (78 min), which was chosen as the Documentary Centerpiece of the 2016 Lighthouse International Film Festival LIFF in New Jersey, U. S. A.. He learned his directing skills from documentary filmmaker and author Robert Young Pelton (The World ’ s Most Dangerous Places) as well as from Photojournalist Jason Florio, when he collaborated with them to direct short films in support of Christopher Catrambone ’ s Migrant Offshore Aid Station, MOAS.
From 2016 to 2018 he directed various art video works to explore new forms of visual storytelling, among them Microcosm (25 min), Sebastian (16 min) and A Wedding (24 min) In 2018 he produced together with the DFFB Theresa Bergner’s shortfilm DER HOCHZEITSTAG (24 min) and directed his first two commercials for a horse farm in Brandenburg.
In 2021, he directed his first fictional short film DEZEMBER/ DECEMBER (10 min), which was broadcast by German MDR in 2022. In the Summer of 2022 he directed his first fictional medium – length film DIE WIESE von Bjäschin / Bezhin Meadow (45 min.), Co-Produced by Simon Veroneg and Christian Riegel of Shoot ’ n ’ Post, Berlin. Currently he is producing Ramin Parvins ‚Last Wednesday‘ (19 min.) and is in preparation for his next short film with the working title ‚THE RED ROOM ‚ and a documentary with the working title ‚LEGAL VACUUM‚
